June 9, 2020, Büyükeceli, Mersin Province, Turkey. - The third group of young Turkish engineers who received higher education in Russia under the nuclear energy specialists training program for Akkuyu NPP has commenced its work at the Akkuyu NPP construction site. 53 graduates of one of the best Russian universities, the National Research Nuclear University (MEPhI), arrived to Mersin Province and upon completion of temporary isolation according to a circular issued by the Ministry of the Interior of the Republic of Turkey, started working in compliance with restrictive measures to prevent the spread of the coronavirus disease.


The representatives of AKKUYU NUCLEAR JSC management held a meeting with new employees of the company and encouraged them with wishes of successful work and professional growth. Alexey Frolov, Managing Director for GR and International Cooperation of AKKUYU NUKLER JSC, congratulated young Turkish specialists with their first working day: "The target-oriented training program for Turkish Akkuyu NPP personnel is an important part of the Intergovernmental Agreement. The NPP construction is in active phase. Our company welcomes newcomers and we are sure that they will adapt quickly to our big and friendly team".


Sergei Butckikh, First Deputy CEO – Director of the NPP under Construction, emphasized that the graduates have a great potential. "They are talented young people who strive to be useful to their home country and work for its prosperity. The study at the university is over, so we say "welcome" to them", said Mr. Butckikh.


Ömer Boyraz is one of 53 specialists who started working at the Akkuyu construction sıte. He emphasized that he was proud to start working at such a large-scale project with a team of professionals of the highest level after 7 years of challenging study in Russia.


Training program for Akkuyu NPP has been in progress since 2011. In 2020, the third group of specialists obtained degrees in Nuclear Engineering. Since 2018 more than 130 young Turkish specialists were awarded with National Research Nuclear University MEPhI diplomas of higher education. All of them received job offers from AKKUYU NUCLEAR JSC. More than 120 students from Turkey are currently continuing their studies in Russia as part of targeted specialist training for Akkuyu NPP.
