AKKUYU NUCLEAR DELIVERED TRADITIONAL GIFTS TO THE RESIDENTS OF THE REGION ON THE EVE OF THE HOLY MONTH OF RAMADAN

March 31, 2022, Gulnar, Mersin Province, Turkey. – The companies involved in the construction of Akkuyu NPP donated a batch of food packages to the Mutual Social Assistance Fund of the Gulnar District Administration to be distributed among the families.

AKKUYU NUCLEAR JSC Chief Executive Officer Anastasia Zoteeva: “Ramadan, the holy month of fasting for Muslims is approaching. It is a time of spiritual unity and mutual assistance. Many residents of Gulnar are working at the construction of Turkey's first nuclear power plant, Akkuyu NPP. For several years already, Akkuyu NPP has been the region's largest employer, and in the future, the life of the local population will be even more closely connected with this nuclear power plant. Understanding a great measure of our social responsibility, we strive to provide various kinds of support to the local population. The distribution of the food packages for the families of the district on the occasion of the holy month of Ramadan has already become a good tradition for many of our project participants. I would like to note that this initiative is supported by many contractors involved in this project.”

Aleksey Frolov, Managing Director for GR and International Cooperation of AKKUYU NUCLEAR JSC, Yunus Emre Bayraklı, Gulnar District Governor, and Alpaslan Ünüvar, Mayor of Gulnar, attended the ceremony of handing over the food packages. Together with AKKUYU NUCLEAR JSC, the contracting companies of the Akkuyu NPP project, TITAN2, IC İÇTAŞ İNŞAAT A.Ş., and CENGIZ İNŞAAT took part in the charity initiative.

Yunus Emre Bayraklı, Head of the Gulnar District Administration: “The residents of Gulnar highly appreciate the support to the region and our country, provided by the participants of the Akkuyu NPP project. In their turn, the residents of the area stand for the construction of the Akkuyu NPP being a nationwide project. We are implementing many joint initiatives with AKKUYU NUCLEAR. In particular, we are actively involved in organizing employment for the local population. During the period March 2021 - March 2022, about 600 residents of the Gulnar district were employed at the Akkuyu NPP construction site. The job interviews and hiring processes are conducted in a specially organized office in Gulnar, with the support of the mayor's administration. The educational institutions of our region receive tangible assistance from AKKUYU NUCLEAR. I sincerely thank AKKUYU NUCLEAR and the project contractors for taking care of the residents of Gulnar.”

With the beginning of the holy month of Ramadan, the Mutual Social Assistance Fund of the Gulnar District Administration will organize the distribution and delivery of the food packages to all families of the district.
