Anastasia Zoteeva, Chief Executive Officer of AKKUYU NUCLEAR JSC, congratulated the employees working at Akkuyu NPP and the project partners on the coming New Year.

"2021 was the most important year for the construction of Akkuyu NPP"

Summing up the year, Anastasia Zoteeva noted that 2021 was a very important year in the life of the project. "One can safely say that the expiring year has been the most eventful year since the start of the Akkuyu NPP construction. The most important event was the pouring of the first concrete at Unit 3. The esteemed President of Turkey Recep Tayyip Erdoğan and the esteemed President of Russia Vladimir Vladimirovich Putin took part in the solemn ceremony via videoconference. When we started the construction of Unit 3, we gained the status of the largest nuclear construction site in the world. Another important event was the granting of the construction license for Unit 4. In October, the Turkish Nuclear Regulatory Authority approved that decision, which completes the licensing process for the construction of our four-unit NPP. This is an important milestone in the life of our project. We are getting ready to start the full-scale development of Unit 4 as well. At the beginning of next year, we will start constructing the foundation slab of the nuclear island buildings."

"Even during the pandemic, we continued the Project without slowing down"

"Our main task is the successful completion of construction, commissioning of the units, and stable power generation," adds A. Zoteeva. "Our team includes not only Turkish and Russian nationals; there are experts of more than 10 nationalities involved in the project. Day after day I see how people from different countries, cultures, traditions, and values continuously find points of contact, establish a dialogue, understand and accept each other. We are different, but we have a lot in common, and we will never stop treating each other with respect. And in today's multicultural society successful intercultural interaction is one of the conditions for efficiency. The ability to work competently in the conditions of the pandemic united us even more. We got more attentive and careful to each other and learned to live in the new conditions. This allows us to push the Project forward gaining speed and responding quickly and efficiently to the challenges of the external environment.

In her special address Anastasia Zoteeva said: "Happy New Year to all the project staff, to all my dear colleagues. I wish you health and well-being! Worthy representatives of each generation created and built. Our grandparents, fathers, and mothers built entire cities and developed them. They lived vivid and rich lives because they created the future! Our construction team is the most ambitious, the most authentic, the most beautiful, and the most united! Every year we grow stronger together. We get to know each other more, understand each other better, learn from each other. There is an old wise saying that goes: "If you want to go fast, walk alone. If you want to go far, walk together." Our countries decided to unite and implement the Project for the prosperous life of future generations. Now we are walking together towards the same goal"

On the occasion of the New Year, AKKUYU NUCLEAR JSC prepared a New Year's Eve music video for the song Resolute Waltz. The video was filmed at the Akkuyu NPP construction site. It is dedicated to the commitment, mutual support, consolidation of efforts and persistence of employees involved in the construction of a unique project in the history of the global nuclear industry.
