Chief Executive Officer and Chairperson of the Board of Directors of AKKUYU NUCLEAR JSC Anastasia Zoteeva sent a congratulation message on May 19, the Commemoration of Atatürk, Youth and Sports Day: "May 19 is a special day for Turkey. Atatürk, the founder of the Republic of Turkey, entrusted the future of the Republic to young generations. It was the young generation on which Mustafa Kemal Atatürk pinned his hopes for prosperity and well-being of the emerging Republic".

Ms. Zoteeva pointed out that Turkey is currently making its 60-year dream of its own NPP come true with the help of of young, qualified, well-educated and successful employees of AKKUYU NUCLEAR: "Our young colleagues who have joined the main personnel of the first nuclear power plant in the Republic of Turkey feature high level of self-discipline and mobility, bold solutions and readiness to new challenges, aspiration to obtain knowledge and continuous professional development. Every day our young engineers demonstrate their dedication to the profession, desire to move forward, to achieve success and to instill optimism into their colleagues. They have received the best education and proudly speak of their commitment to nuclear technologies. We are proud of our company's young employees and have a full confidence that they will make a great contribution to the Russian-Turkish Project! At the same time, AKKUYU NUCLEAR JSC will continue to provide support for Turkish young people, notably those in Mersin Province. May every one of you stay young and active, curious and indefatigable, and retain enthusiasm, high capacity for work and positive thinking! May your life be full of joyful events, interesting and creative tasks and bold and bright ideas!"

"WE LEFT AS SPARKS AND RETURNED AS A FLAME"

The young engineers who joined the team of AKKUYU NUCLEAR JSC after having completed their training under the Akkuyu NPP personnel training program (the program is implemented by Rosatom State Corporation, a company constructing Akkuyu NPP, under the Intergovernmental Agreement on Cooperation signed between Russia and Turkey) are actively participating in the project implementation.

Mustafa Kubilay Şahin, one of the engineers who received education in Russia, noted that during the first years of the Republic Atatürk sent young people to Europe to obtain education. "Atatürk told those young people: "I send you there as a spark, you must return as a flame". So we went to Russia to study nuclear industry as sparks and returned as a flame", noted Mustafa.

"As Atatürk said, our nation must be strong, and that requires, among other things, to contribute to improving the role of our women in all fields. I am glad that AKKUYU NUCLEAR JSC provides equal employment opportunities to Turkish citizens regardless of their gender and actively engages women at all stages of the educational process on equal terms with men" - points out Sumeyye Özkan, a laboratory assistant of AKKUYU NUCLEAR JSC chemical workshop.
