Hopes to sign a contract for construction of the third NPP in Vietnam are rising

In view of the South Korean President Mrs. Park Geun-hye visit, the BusinessKorea portal has noted that hopes to sign a contract to build an NPP in Vietnam were rising.

According to the Ministry of Trade and Industry, Vietnam is planning to construct up to 10 NPPs by 2030.

South Korea is seeking to obtain the license for two reactors of the 3rd Vietnamese NPP. Now the Vietnam Government is performing a preliminary examination of the feasibility study. Russia and Japan have practically guaranteed the licenses for the first and second plants and now are expecting findings of the ongoing investigations. South Korea appeared in the NPP construction market of Vietnam in November 2011, when the leaders of the both nations reached an agreement in the joint declaration to collaborate in the construction of nuclear power plants in Vietnam.
