Reactor System Delivered to Leningrad Nuclear Power Plant-2 in Russia

Components of the first power unit were delivered to Leningrad Nuclear Power Plant-2 (LNPP-2) construction site. The vessel of WWER-1200 reactor, compensator and protective tube unit for the plant under construction were unloaded by using special purpose vehicles. Then they were moved to heavy-weight large-sized equipment unloading and storage ground of the Leningrad NPP-2. The rest of the equipment, i.e. reactor head and pit, will be delivered to the construction site by using motor vehicles. The most part of the oversize cargo was shipped to the construction site by sea and arrived via the Gulf of Finland, because the total weight of the reactor system is about 600 tons.

Construction of the reactor’s dry shielding is in progress. It will be followed by installation of the reactor supporting truss and polar crane which will mount the WWER-1200 reactor itself. Construction engineers said arrival of the first power unit main components and start of its installation was that very starting point by which one could judge about the date of the facility completion.
