Representative of AKKUYU NUCLEAR JSC will take part in the first Turkish National Congress on Radiation Protection

 

Ankara Hacettepe University will host the first National Congress on Radiation Protection sponsored by the Turkish Society of Radiation Protection Specialists (RADKOR). The event will take place November 19 through 21, 2015. The representatives of the executive powers of the Republic of Turkey, scientists and experts of companies which operation is related to the nuclear industry will participate in the Congress. Rolf Janke, Head of the Department on cooperation with the Turkish Atomic Energy Authority (TAEK), will represent AKKUYU NUCLEAR JSC.

 

The first National Congress is aimed at addressing Turkish laws in the field of radiation protection and issues incipient during their implementation, discussion of academic and professional training programs required to prepare qualified specialists for nuclear engineering enterprises. The representatives of foreign companies-vendors of the nuclear industry will take part in the Congress. Under the program of the event the principal topics for discussion will be: infrastructure of national safety, laws available in the field of radiation protection, educational programs, methods and techniques for radiation measurement in the environment, natural radiation, dose assessments and their influence on a human being.

 

The Head of the Department of cooperation with TAEK of AKKUYU NUCLEAR JSC Rolf Janke will deliver the report «Radiation Protection Program of Akkuyu NPP». Gönül Buyan, Chairman of the Congress Organizational Board and Head of the Turkish Society of Radiation Protection Specialists, said: «We would like to make out contribution to formulation of the national policy of the Republic of Turkey in the field of the atomic energy by combining the multi-year expertise, knowledge and responsibility understanding to ensure radiation safety for people and environment. I hope that such an event will favor that, and in the future will become a platform for discussion of issues connected with the emerging nuclear generation of Turkey».
