May 19, 2023, Türkiye. - On the eve of May 19, the Commemoration of Atatürk, Youth and Sports Day, the jury members of the national creative contest arranged by AKKUYU NUCLEAR JSC for children aged 6 to 16 summarized the results and determined the winners.
The contest was held in online format and brought together more than 100 participants from all over Türkiye including İstanbul, Ankara, Bursa, İzmir, Antalya, Adana, Manisa, Gaziantep, Konya, Mersin and other provinces. This year's jury included managers and employees of the Akkuyu NPP project, namely: Denis Sezemin, Director for Construction and Industrial Engineering of AKKUYU NUCLEAR JSC; Vasily Korelsky, Press Secretary of Chief Executive Officer – Communications Director of AKKUYU NUCLEAR JSC; Nailya Atmaca, Legal Counsel of AKKUYU NUCLEAR JSC; Fedora Dushkova, Lead Specialist of the Sales Department of AKKUYU NUCLEAR JSC; and Nesrin Sevimli, Member of the Managing Board of the Turkish Nuclear Industry Association.
The jury members assessed participants' works by the level of technical performance, artistic expression and the relevance to the contest's theme.
AKKUYU NUCLEAR Chief Executive Officer Anastasia Zoteeva commented on the contest results: "All children were great, and it was not easy for the jury members to choose the best ones from a large number of bright, original and very sincere works. We would like to say a huge thank you to each contestant for their activity, creativity and desire to create! This is what children should to be encouraged for. Our contest has long been a tradition, and every year we see the geography of participants expanding, and the interest from kids is growing. It is symbolic that the winners are announced on May 19, a special holiday for Türkiye – the Commemoration of Atatürk, Youth and Sports Day. Mustafa Kemal Ataturk, The country's first president, associated his hopes for development and prosperity of the fledgling Republic with the youth generation. Nuclear power is not only a new high-tech industry for the Turkish economy, a reliable and clean source of a large amount of electricity, it is also a great opportunity for the development of future generations. AKKUYU NUCLEAR JSC will continue to support the Turkish youth in the future through holding various contests, and implementing educational and social initiatives".
