Second reactor vessel has been dispatched to Novovoronez NPP-2

Second vessel of VVER-1200 reactor has been dispatched to Novovoronezh NPP-2. The VVER-1200 reactor unit for NVNPP-2 is a leading unit of the AES-2006 Project and belongs to the state-of-the-art 3+ generation. The project received some engineering improvements enhancing the safety level, which meets the most stringent international requirements, increasing performance indicators and extending the power unit service life up to 60 years.

Novovoronezh NPP was put into operation in 1964 and became the first plant with VVER-type reactor unit, the design of which has been recognized as one of the safest in the world. Each reactor currently operating at Novovoronezh NPP is a leading prototype of the standard electricity producing pressurized water reactors of: VVER-440 and VVER-100 types. This reactor has become the third VVER-1200 reactor manufactured at a Russian enterprise. The first one was dispatched to the customer in May 2011 under the contract for manufacturing and delivery of the power equipment for Novovoronezh NPP-2 signed in 2007. The second VVER-1200 reactor was manufactured and dispatched to Leningrad NPP-2 in the fall 2012.
