Start of critical equipment installation at Unit 1 of Novovoronezh Phase Two planned for Q3

Over the first half of 2012 more than RUB6 billion were effectively spent on construction and equipment installation. This information was presented at a meeting of the construction control panel of Novovoronezh NPP-2 (architect general and prime contractor is Atomenergoproekt (Moscow)), which discussed the results of the reporting period and plans for the third quarter of 2012.

The meeting was attended by representatives of Rosenergoatom, Nuclear Power Construction Corporation, Atomenergoproekt, contractors, and equipment producers and suppliers.

At the meeting it was noted that several milestones associated with the equipment installation were set for Q3. In August it is planned to put the reactor pressure vessel on its designated place at Unit 1. Also, the specialists should start installing steam generators and main circulation piping. The installation of the “dry shielding” is to be completed at Unit 2.

At this time on Novovoronezh NPP-2 site the construction work is carried out at a total of 193 facilities. Already in July it is assumed to complete concreting of the third tier (from elevation +20.42 up to elevation +34.42 meters) of the inner containment of the Unit 2 reactor building and to start installing rebar blocks on the joined fourth and fifth tiers (from elevation +34.4 up to elevation +44.1 meters). By date, the cooling tower of Unit has been erected up to elevation +147.1 meters and a design height of 171 meters is planned to reach in August. Also next month the builders will finish concreting of the circular footing at the second cooling tower.

The equipment continues arriving at Novovoronezh NPP-2. Two more steam generators for Unit 1 will be delivered on the site shortly. The package switchgear equipment supply is underway. The delivery of components of the automated process control system is also planned.
