The Turkish specialists participated in the Russian Seminar involving IAEA, and visited the Akkuyu NPP representative office


The International Seminar named the “Culture of Nuclear Security” was arranged in Russia, in the Central institute for continuing education and training of nuclear industry specialists. The representatives of IAEA, Rosatom State Corporation, National Nuclear Research University MEPhI, Research Center of Kurchatov Institute, Federal Service for Ecological, Technological and Nuclear Supervision as well as Turkey, Vietnam, Iran, Armenia, Bangladesh, Belorussia and Hungary took part in its work.


The goal of the Seminar was to realize the position of the Russian Federation voiced at the Nuclear Security Summit in Seoul, with regard to enhancement of the nuclear security as well as to promote the Russian security approaches in countries taking the path of nuclear energy development. The foreign participants have listen to speeches about a whole array of nuclear security activities. The coordinator of the forum, Russian Central institute for continuing education and training of nuclear industry specialists aided by Rusatom Overseas JSC, handed the certificates to its participants.



After the solemn ceremony Carlos Torres Vidal, the Head of the IAEA Section, made a closing speech. He wished success to all countries, which embarked the path of the nuclear energy.


Right after the seminar the Turkish delegation representatives visited the representative office of AKKUYU NPP Power Genertion Joint-Stock Company located in the capital of the Russian Federation. Here in Moscow they met Sergey Reshetnikov, Deputy CEO – Director for Security of AKKUYU NPP.



 During the dialogue Engin Dalgic, a representative of the Nuclear Energy and Project Implementation Department of the Ministry of Energy and Natural Resources, shared his impressions about the seminar: «construction of AKKUYU NPP was not addressed during the seminar, but the IAEA representative are well aware about the situation with the building of the first nuclear power plant in Turkey. I asked many questions about the subjects where we were dealing with AKKUYU NPP. It is worth to note that I got answers to all my questions. Now we’ll better understand all participants involved in the construction project of the first nuclear power plant in Turkey, and practically use the information provided by the Russian side and the IAEA representatives». The Director for Security of AKKUYU NPP, Sergey Reshetnikov, thanked the Turkish representatives for their response to the invitation, and drew the guest’s attention to the fact, that training seminars and information events were frequent. The participation of Turkish colleagues will for sure be positive for understanding the AKKUYU NPP security system, which must meet the highest international requirements.
